International and Mainland Collaborations
Led by its China and International HRM Committee, the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management (HKIHRM) has been actively extending its networks with counterparts from different regions.
HKIHRM is currently a member of the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management (APFHRM). Mr Francis Mok, the President, served on its Council as the President from September 2010 to October 2012. The APFHRM is the network of HR and people management associations’ representative countries in the Asia Pacific region. Fourteen countries/regions form the federation which collectively advances the standard of the HR and people management profession within the region.
APFHRM joined the World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA) as a full member in June 1980. WFPMA is the most important global HR organisation representing over 50 national HR institutes worldwide. Mr Eddie Ng, SBS, JP, past President of the HKIHRM, was President of the WFPMA from 2000 to 2002.
In December 2010, the HKIHRM and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development from the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish longer-term relationship. Joint efforts are being made on training and survey. In November 2011, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with HR People and Strategy from the United States. Through this collaboration, frequent exchanges between members of both organisations are facilitated through reciprocal member services and privileges.
The Institute works closely with the China Association for Labour Studies (CALS) in the two-shore four-place annual ER Conference. Founded in 1982 and based in Beijing, the CALS is an academic body which undertakes research on labour studies.
By enhancing its collaboration with HR professional bodies from different regions, the HKIHRM promotes more high-level exchanges with counterparts to ultimately benefit its members.
